Preschool 2010

Ah! The perfect picture of a preschooler! She's happy and ready to go to her first day. A whole new world just waiting with open arms. This picture just captures my emotions perfectly when thinking about Helaina's first day of preschool! What a wonderful moment....
NOT!!!!

Our day started at 6:00am with Helaina waking up asking for a drink of water because her "mouth hurt". She got her drink of water but proceeded to make whiny noises until I went back in and she again told me that her mouth hurt (this usually means her throat). I had no idea of I should give her Motrin or not. I was afraid it would mask any real symptoms she might have. (that was the hypochondriac part of me) Then I thought well shoot, if helps her to fall back asleep then it is worth it. Maybe she was just breathing through her mouth and dried herself out? So, Motrin on board she goes back to sleep and everything is going great. I had to wake her today at 7:30am because she usually sleeps until 8:30am. She didn't really want to wake up right away and then decided that she didn't really want to go to preschool. This is the same girl who COULDN'T WAIT for preschool! I ignored her. We got through breakfast just fine and then it was time to go outside for a picture. BREAK DOWN!
We had real tears, and a bit of a temper tantrum. I FINALLY told her that she had two choices. She could choose to stop crying take a quick picture and go to preschool or we would go back inside and she could go back to bed instead of preschool. She decided to get a drink and try the picture again. In a span of mere minutes we went from the picture above to the first picture. KIDS!!!!! Her experience at preschool must have been good because she was beaming when she came out the door and she never looked back when she walked through the door! There were no good-bye kisses or hugs for Helaina.... she was ready! FINALLY!!!!
Breakfast!
Not ready to wake up... sitting in chair while I made her bed!
Didn't even wake up when I opened her curtains!
Here new school bag! I attempted to sew her hand prints on the bag. Not the greatest sewing but the meaning is the same!

Tug Fest Princess

Tugfest Princess 2010!
We would like to introduce you to the 2010 Tug Fest Princess! Helaina was crowned on the morning of August 14th. She was very excited about her crown, her trophy and her bag of goodies. She shined on the stage by walking all by herself and waving and blowing kisses while the Tug Fest Queen read a pre written narrative about her.
The river front was a mass of adorable little boys and girls dressed in their finest. We are not sure how Helaina got so lucky to be the winner but she was very happy!
It takes way too much thinking power to put these pictures in order at 10:00pm after a long and busy day! Sorry! Hopefully the narratives will help!
Check out how Breleigh is fingering Helaina's sash! heheheheh
Our Girls! They are both Princesses in our book!

Helaina with the Tugfest Queen. Helaina watched her get crowned on Thursday night!
The Princes and Princess. Tyler's mom told them to hug!

Being introduced to her trophy!
The Queen runner up was trying to figure out how to put on the crown around the hat. I told her she could take it off to make it easier!

All the kids waiting for the results. Helaina is standing by Claire. They were in swimming lessons together and Helaina really liked her and was excited to see her at Tug Fest.
Waiting in line before going on the stage.
The pictures below are Helaina on stage while a little narrative is read about her.

We had a very fun day!
After spending some time at Tug Fest we headed out to lunch at Old Chicago. Helaina wore her sash and tiara to lunch. The waitress brought her a free brownie sundae to help her celebrate. Wasn't that cool? Then we went to a friends pond party and she wore the tiara and sash again and got a lot of attention. I love a lot of positive attention for kids. What an awesome day.

Sneak Peek

Here is our attempt at a salute!
This is an action shot of Helaina dancing in her dress to the soundtrack from Ma Ma Mia! It was so cute! Yup- good thing I made bloomers!
Breleigh with her crazy hair up in a pony and with her favorite new toys... her shoes!
Here's my favorite... I love the fact that both her knees have healing scars and if you look really closely you can see two owies by her mouth where she was rubbing a string (from her lacing beads) on her mouth and gave herself lace burn!! Love it when kids looks like kids!
I got to thinking about it today and I have actually spent more money on the hat and the hair ribbons than on the dress. I found the dress at Once Upon a Child for 4.00 last Fall. Hehehehehe

Some fun pics!

My friend Megan posted on facebook that she was going to be getting some clothes ready for a garage sale and that if anyone was interested in a sneak peek... let her know! Megan's has three girls who always look like a million bucks so I of course had to go look! Let's just say that Helaina is going to be one fashionable pre schooler this year! Here are just a few highlights of some of the clothes I bought. This outfit just needs leggings!
As luck would have it I actually found a dress for BReleigh at a garage sale last summer in the same design as the outfit above. I am thinking this might be a cute first day of preschool outfit for Helaina.
This little dress just needs leggings or some skinny girl jeans!
Isn't this one cute!!! Can't wait for her to wear this one. The pants have the buttons on the front like a sailor. So cute. These are just a few of the selections that I came home with. I have no idea what size Breleigh will be next winter but I am hoping she will be a 3 because I also bought that size from my friend. I figure if Breleigh can't wear it then maybe Reagan can and if she can't maybe my other niece Mia or maybe our little cousin Bailey.
Just eating dinner!
Remember the girl who wouldn't eat a green bean? Well... I guess green onions are ok because she took some bites of this one! And she wasn't too sad about it either!
I have started putting Breleigh on the potty just to get her used to it. She has gone a couple of times but it was has been a fluke. Sometimes you need to play to keep the interest going. Helaina helped us play this time. Breleigh's hat are actually the shorts she had been wearing!

Breleigh bonked her head on the coffee table and got a "nice" goose egg" that bruised immediately. She cried but not nearly as hard as she did when I tried to ice it! The bruise lasted about a week and a half and spread rather far. Poor baby!
